Fake Viagra: Man Pleads Guilty to Shipping Bogus Boosters 2012-05-17
By Amy Pavuk

A Volusia County, Fla., man formally pleaded guilty in Orlando federal court Wednesday to trafficking hundreds of pounds of counterfeit Viagra and Cialis.

Gregory Bochter admitted to packaging and shipping the drugs, used to treat erectile dysfunction, from two companies in China.

He faces up to 10 years in federal prison and will be sentenced Aug. 15.

Federal agents made several undercover purchases of the drugs that Bochter shipped, his plea agreement said.

Authorities said that even after U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement sent Bochter a notice and alerted him that a shipment was seized, he continued to import and ship the fake drugs.

Bochter mailed 640 shipments of counterfeit Viagra and Cialis, weighing roughly 365 pounds, from October 2010 to December 2010, court documents said.

Pfizer, the company that had the exclusive right to manufacture Viagra and distribute the drug in the U.S., said the fake tablets contained only 30 percent of the active ingredient of a legitimate pill.
