CIDG busts call center hub selling fake drugs in Cebu 2012-07-23
By Zambo Times

The Criminal and Investigation Detection Group's Anti-Transnational and Cyber Crime Division claims it has neutralized a call center hub for allegedly selling fake drugs during operations in Cebu this week.

Director Samuel Pagdilao, Jr., CIDG chief, identified the raided establishment as the 724Care Incorporated, a call center hub at the second floor of Gothong IT Center Building, Lopez Jaena St. Subangdaku, Mandaue City, Cebu.

Based on the complaint of Pfizer, an international pharmaceutical corporation that produces Viagra, an anti-impotency drug, 724Care is engaged in the online selling of counterfeit Viagra.

Pending the enactment of the cyber crime prevention law, the officials of the 724Care, namely Amelita Barcenas-Boutvine, Charees Sol Aguirre, Nicolai Boutnine, a Canadian, Joseph Dean, an American, Steven Erickson and Susan Fuentes, were charged with violation of Access Devices Law and Special Laws on Counterfeit Drugs.

ATCCD chief Sr. Supt. Gilbert Sosa said the 724Care Incorporated uses Cloud Computing Technology such as security and privacy enhancement applications provided by Google in storing their data virtually to prevent the tracking of documents and files in the actual sites.

To preserve and retrieve the evidence hidden in the virtual drive with domain name 724care.net under Google Application account, the CIDG coordinated with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, making the crime transnational in nature.

Pagdilao said with the good relationship that the CIDG has established with ICE, it is likely the latter will help them in resolving the case. (PNA)
