Sofia Vergara is to make a guest appearance on cartoon sitcom Family Guy as a sexy love interest for Peter Griffin.

The sultry star of Modern Family - who was last week named as the highest-earning actress in television - will have a brief role as the target of Peter's affections in a cutaway gag, according to The Sun.

The paper claims that former model Sofia, nicknamed "Viagra" in her heyday, will feature in a sequence spoofing Latin telenovelas.

And the 40-year-old Colombian beauty will also apparently provide the voice for a woman selling roses in a restaurant as Quagmire tries to convince Peter to do him a favour.

Recently engaged Sofia is no stranger to voiceover work, having previously worked on Puss in Boots and Happy Feet Two.
