Hair's to Wes Welker's new $$ plug 2012-07-26
By Gayle Fee And Laura Raposa With Megan Johnson

We have to admit, we’re a little worried about Wes Welker.

First it was the endorsement deal for Depends Real Fit for Men, now it’s hair restoration. What’s next? Cialis? Cue the bathtubs in the open field!

The 31-year-old New England Patriots [team stats] franchise player reported yesterday that not only is he a satisfied customer of Leonard Hair Transplant Associates, he’s now the spokesman!

Unlike Wes’ BFF, Tom Brady [stats], who has taken a pass on discussing his hair restoration, No. 83 came clean about the five-hour procedure he went through earlier this month at Dr. Robert Leonard’s Cranston, R.I., office.

“Dr. Leonard has a tremendous reputation and his knowledge and expertise helped put my mind at ease throughout the process,” Welker said in a press release announcing his new gig.

The Rhode Island hair honcho told the Track he couldn’t say enough about the former follicly challenged wide receiver, who will appear later this year in his company’s TV, radio and print ads.

“He’s a sweetheart of a guy,” said the doc. “Polite, respectful and fully down to earth. I was very, very impressed in meeting with this young man.

“One of the things I’m really excited for is that as a personality of his caliber, he will be able to allow us to raise awareness about hair loss and hair transplantations,” Dr. Leonard said. “There are many, many myths and misunderstandings.”

Like those creepy Chucky hair plugs, Doc?

“Those old plugs were transplants that were the size of pencil erasers,” said Leonard, whose current transplants measure about 2 or 3 millimeters. “They looked like Barbie doll hair. We transplant hair graphs that contain 1-4 hairs, as compared to the old ones that have 25-35. It provides a much, much more natural look.”
