Weight-loss surgery topic at Orange talk 2012-08-08
By Newsday

Experts at Orange Regional Medical Center will discuss surgical weight loss options -- and tips for continued success -- at a free seminar it's hosting this month, according to a Tuesday news release from the hospital.

A program on "Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery" will be held 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Courtyard by Marriott, 4 Governor Dr., Newburgh, near Stewart International Airport.

Janet Kovler, Orange Regional's bariatric program manager, will lead this seminar in which obesity treatment options -- including nonsurgical approaches and gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric banding surgery -- will be discussed by one of Orange Regional Medical Center's board-certified, fellowship-trained bariatric surgeons, the release said.

Orange Regional's Bariatric Support Group will meet immediately following the seminar. This group is for both pre- and post-op weight loss surgical patients and is open to the public. The discussion topic will be: "Nutrition -- reaching your protein requirements and staying on target."

For more information, or to register for both the seminar and the support group, call the Orange Regional Health Connection at 1-888-321-ORMC (6762).
