Will Latisse work for you? 2012-08-09
By Yahoo! Answers

I really want to put Latisse on my lashes?
I'm having some doubt because I wear contacts when I'm out and some people on the reviews said that it might cause some color changes on my iris, rashes, and on long term effects, cause my lashes to fall out later??? Should I go to my optometrist about it? Also, for the people who used it before, will is make my eyelashes thicker and longer??

Additional Details
hahaha sorry! i guess what i'm trying to ask is: Is Latisse safe to use? And does it actually work? Thanks! :)

Okay, I have used Latisse. I originally had it prescribed by my dermatologist for what they call "off label use" because my eyebrows were very thin from plucking over time. So of course I used it on my lashes too. It definitely works. My lashes were thicker and longer and my eyebrows filled in alot. The downside is the cost it's over $100 for the prescription (it is not covered by insurance because it's for cosmetic use). It's a really small bottle that lasts a few months if you use it right.
Once you stop using it the effects go away which left my lashes regular again and of course I thought I had more lashes before I used it but I think that happens because you forget exactly what you had before.
I have hazel eyes so I didn't worry much about color change and didn't notice any color change. I did notice the light brown color (very faint) on my lids close to my lashes.. almost like eye shadow but in eyeliner area. That went away when I stopped using it.
I would NEVER chance using Latisse on Blue Eyes because of the warning that it can cause permanent eye color change! But if your eyes are brown or my color and you want to spent the money go for it.
Latisse is applied at night before bed so it would be washed off before your contacts go in A.M. Before Latisse was for lashes it was originally used to treat an eye disease when doctors noticed it lengthened and thickened patients eyelashes as a side effect. So it is meant to be used "in the eyes". Latisse later sought and received approval from FDA for cosmetic lash use. But it is still only available by prescription so a doctor would determine if this would be unsafe for your particular circumstances.
Hint from my doctor once your lashes get fuller use it every other day to maintain it so lasts longer. P.S. Check out the Latisse website for discount coupons/special offers before filling the prescription.
    Hope that helps!
